Published Pieces by Jason Brown

After a hiatus writing for The Strake Jesuit Chronicle, I had the honor of writing on a dear friend of mine, one Andrew Montroy, and how his work in the registrar's office is more than transcripts and grades: it's about shaping students so they can go into the world and be Men for Others.

My second published piece in EduCreate* on Medium, with the introduction of ChatGPT to the world of education, I dug to the core of cheating in academia: the relationships educators form with their students.

My first published piece in EduCreate* on Medium, I focused on how educators need to move from motivating students externally with outcomes and toward having students be internally invested in their own learning process: instead of how do I get an A, students should be thinking “what do I need to do to get a B?”.

A Heartfelt Approach

The second half of the two part collection, continuing to highlight the father son duos working on Strake Jesuit's campus, this piece focused on how Operations Department member Mr. Alberto Jimenez and his son, and recent Strake Jesuit graduate, and then volunteer teacher, took each encounter on Jesuit's campus as an opportunity to pay back the love they both received from their community.

The article can be found digitally on pgs. 26-27 and in print on pgs. 23-24 of the Summer 2022 Edition of The Strake Jesuit Chronicle.

The first of a larger two-part collection, this piece focused on how 30-year Strake Jesuit veteran teacher Kelly Clemons and his son, Strake Jesuit graduate, and then volunteer teacher, Brandon Clemons found a Strake Jesuit to be a truly remarkable place: a community in which they both felt called and loved.

Earned

8.11.2021

In my second commissioned piece for The Strake Jesuit Chronicle, I spoke with Head Varsity Baseball Coach Raul Garcia-Rameau to hear what he believed led to a historic season as they made it to the Texas State Semi-Finals: in a word, it was “earned”.

In a piece commissioned for The Strake Jesuit Chronicle, I interviewed graduating Senior Garrett Stratton to better understand how his time at Strake Jesuit helped him navigate his meteoric rise as one of Houston's premier baseball recruits.
